DARK COMEDY

LIFE IS NO JOKE

Life is No Joke tells the story of Erwin, a court jester in the Middle Ages who is about to perform in front of his majesty. Here a bad performance usually is paid with the Buffoon’s life and things don't look good for Erwin as, right before his act, he has an existential crisis: he doesn't find anything funny anymore.

Shot on 35mm film on location in Castello di Amorosa, Napa Valley, California, using only torches and candlelight as the main lighting sources, in order to faithfully capture the gilded aesthetic of the XIV century.

Directed by Yair Shvartz. Starring Napoleon Ryan and Maile Flanagan.
Produced by Monolithic Films and Worried Minds LLC.
